Fish finder is 2-language (English, Russian)
The popular Praktik fish finder among anglers, the colorful 2023 multi-frequency upgrade Praktik 8, is convenient to use for active ice fishing. It shows both fish and lures. Apparently designed by Russians to ruin the nerves of Estonian anglers, when you have a poor bite, you repeatedly and clearly see a fish rising after the lure and leaving again without touching the lure. Compared to earlier models, it is more sensitive, multi-frequency, and has a color screen. Different variants of the PRAKTIK 8 use either an internal lithium battery located in the screen housing, charged via a USB port, or, analogously to earlier models, AA batteries installed in the transducer. Theoretically, batteries located in the transducer should last better than a battery located in the screen housing exposed to strong sub-zero temperatures. However, Estonian users of the battery variants of Praktik 8 have given feedback that the battery lasts several days without charging. The advantage of the battery variant is again the fact that the transducer is one piece and not openable. Openable transducers (for battery replacement) were, when getting moisture, one of the main sources of faults and problems in older models.
The fish finder is small and fits nicely in a pocket. The transducer is connected to the color screen via a cable (total device weight only 170g). According to the manufacturer, one charge or one set of batteries lasts at least 20 operating hours, but current practice shows significantly more. The fish finder can operate in water depths of 0.5 – 70 m and withstands temperatures ranging from -25C to +50C.
The transducer’s viewing angle is either 12 or 35 degrees depending on the frequency used, and the signal frequency varies between 300 and 500 kHz, depending on the mode.
